Zoats are nothing new in the foodie world, but they are relatively new to my breakfast table. For those that don’t know what “zoats” are, basically it’s when you add grated zucchini to your regular oatmeal porridge. The idea is to add extra fibre, nutrients and serving of veggies to your breakfast meal. Since zucchini doesn’t have too much of it’s own flavour it pairs perfectly with all of your favourite oatmeal variations. I’ve tried it on several and have to say that I’ve been pleased with the results.
I don’t have a recipe for zoats because I just add about a half cup of shredded zucchini to my oatmeal, nothing too specific. However here are a few links that I tried when I was first testing out zoats: Banana Cinnamon Zoats from PopSugar, How to make zoats from Food Mic, Cinnamon Cacao Oats from Plantbased Pixie, Heavenly Chocolate Pumpkin Zucchini Oats (Zoats!) Recipe by Breakfast Criminals
If you haven’t already, I hope you try out zoats and that you too fall in love with this unique pairing.
