Mushroom shawarma is a delicious vegan alternative to chicken shawarma. With just 6 ingredients you can make it at home anytime.
Drizzle the mushrooms with olive oil and sprinkle the shawarma spices over them. Mix until well combined.
Heat the oil and sauté until soft and a little crispy. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until soft.
Sprinkle in salt to taste. Drizzle in a half of freshly squeezed lemon juice, or to taste. Mix to well combine and cook another few minutes.
Spread hummus on a warm pita then layer on the mushroom shawarma and other toppings. Serve with French fries if desired.
