In my house there’s always a small bag of almonds. I love snacking on a small handful, or making almond milk, topping salads with them, and so many other things. Almonds are just great!
I would say that the only bad thing about almonds is their high price — specially if you buy them blanched, slivered, or sliced! But did you know that whole almonds both in their shell and shelled but with their skin on are cheaper than the other kinds? So because of this, and because many recipes call for peeled almonds, I want to share this short video on how to blanch or peel the skin off of almonds. It’s super easy and it will help save you some money.
(If you don’t see the video right below this text, view it on our YouTube channel by clicking here.)
If you compost save the almond peels for your compost bin or pile!
And now for the happy news to share with you.
I wanted to share with you a couple of little milestones, but even though small each, and every one counts and it’s just the beginning of much more to come. I’m sharing them with you because without your support none of this would be possible. So thank you very much!
A few days ago we reached the required 100 YouTube subscribers to be able to claim our channel name. Yay!! What this means is that no more long complicated url. Now it’s simply https://www.youtube.com/c/MexicanMadeMeatless At last count we were at 113 subscribers and with over 2,100 views — and growing! Not bad at all considering it’s only been a couple of months of really focusing on recipe videos.
Click on the link if you’d too would like to subscribe.
Another little milestone we are celebrating is the 7,000 likes on Facebook! After the nonsense with Facebook a couple of years ago where they made me change my profile account to a new fan page and I lost thousands of likes, it felt like it would be forever before we would climb back. I’m still working hard at retrieving all those likes, but we’ll get them back!

Thanks amigos for stopping by today! I hope you have a beautiful day filled with delicious food. There’s a new recipe coming in a couple of days so until then.
